I am deeply saddened to hear of Alice's passing. I was proud to call her my boss and co worker...but most of all, my friend. She will be missed very much. We have lost one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever had the privilege to know. John, I am feeling your pain and sorrow at this difficult time. You have my sincere sympathy.

Alice was a member of the UAA Center for Alaska Education Policy Research advisory board. She was such a wonderful leader for education in our state... we will miss her greatly.

What a bright light in world! Alice was a giver, in every wonderful sense of the word she gave tirelessly of her talents, her experience, her caring, and her wit. I appreciated especially the encouragement she gave me when I was working towards my own later-in-life doctorate, and I saw first-hand the very positive difference she made in non-profit board work. We will miss you, Alice, and your light in our life will remain. Love to you, John, you were amazing support for dear Alice.

My first impression of Alice was her enthusiasm and dedication. Alice was on the Board of the Alaska Botanical Garden and co-lead on the hiring team that ultimately selected me for the ED position. She was always generous with her ideas and possessed a wonderful 'can do' approach that I will never forget. We will miss her here at the Alaska Botanical Garden.

Alice was "all in" - whether it was giving back to her community or having a conversation. How I loved her humor, her mind & her friendship. I will miss her so.

Dear John,
Mark Fryer and I met Alice through Campfire. She struck us as a mover and shaker of the most gracious variety. I am sorry for your loss and Alaska's loss.

It was an honor to know Alice over the years. Her legacy lives on through the many she mentored and loved! A life well-lived!

Alice and I co-presented at a conference held at Providence years ago. She made learning fun for attendees. We lost touch but my memories will not be lost for this special lady.
