Bea taught our Sunday School class when we lived in Juneau from 1963 to 1967. She was an outstanding teacher and often offered her students the opportunity to help with a project needed for building her house on Auk Bay. So, often our class extended into the afternoon to help with a well or roofing project. We had faithful correspondence with Bea and Claudia over all the years that followed with Bea's long Christmas letter and Claudia's beautiful illustrations. We last saw Bea 4 years ago when we enjoyed a stop at Juneau on an Alaskan cruise. Bea, at age 90 toured us around Juneau to show us what had happened since we had left. We dearly loved this kind and wise woman. May God enjoy her company.

I always think of Bea and of Claudia whenever I see snow covered spruce trees, which has been alot this winter. I have fond memories of visiting them in each of the three houses they lived in during the 1950's. Bea came to our house to give me flute lessons. She was a very good flutist. Last August I cleaned out the attic of the house I grew up in in Juneau and found a doll that attended numerous missionary dinners. It is fitting to find a home for her in Aunt Claudia's Doll Museum. How we will miss Bea and her whole generation!

The sweet aroma of warm wax--
May it stream across the cold skies above, where, no doubt you are roaming, just to take in the beauty of your home.

Yes! Just like my dear sisters, I benefited from Bea's presence during our Juneau childhood. Juneau was such a perfect background for her appreciation of beauty and intelligence. Thank you for being yourself , Bea! I have such fond memories of two women who built their own house, for Pete's Sake...who opened their hearts and educated selves to so many youth in the church, and who's home smelled of clean wood smoke and pistachios on those special occasions when we were invited to dine.
God Speed, Sister!

I loved the church potlucks too, and Bea and Claudia were a big part of that memory. Also, camp, and dinner at their house with olives, craft projects, and sing-alongs..so much to love and pass along to the next generations.

Thank you Bea and Claudia for your kindness to four children who lost their mother in 1964. You taught appreciation for the outdoors and appreciation for people from different cultures. Your kindness was such an example. Peace forever. Love, Luanne

I only met Bea once when I visited the doll museum on a First Friday Art Walk. She gave my husband and I a tour. She had a great story for every doll we pointed out. I found her to be so interesting that I thought about her for months after my visit. Now that I read her obituary, I can see why she was so endearing. What a great woman who lived such a full life.

Hi Bea, I know you and Claudia are enjoying 'catching up'! You've given of yourself for many years, your expertise in so many fields of endeavors. Debra did an exemplary job, remembering all your wonderful virtues, hobbies, positions, etc for all of us. Job well done, Debra. And come Saturday, so many more, too numerous to mention, will remember you with love, tears, laughter and joy. Thanks for being YOU. You may be missed, but never really gone for many of us. Love you, enjoy Heaven!! :-)

May the Shepard family draw comfort from the words found at Psalms 55:22 where it tells us to throw our burden upon God and he will sustain us.

Thank you for being my teacher, mentor and Alaskan mother. God blessed me the day you came into my life 33 years ago.
