You Never
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If Love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died
In Life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

I love and miss you soooo much Dad!!!

Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.
Ernest Hemingway

Uppa, I miss you. I think of you often, every time I start the car and look up at your cross, or reach for some change and fumble through your old country tapes they're all still there. I listen to them sometimes when I need to think... I love you.

Dad...so many images come to mind
whenever I speak your name;
It seems without you in my life
things have never been the same.
What happened to those lazy days
when I was just a child;
When my life was consumed in you
in your love, and in your smile.
What happened to all those times
when I always looked to you;
No matter what happened in my life
you could make my gray skies blue.
Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning...it seems
the sound has been erased.
Dad, who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.
Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.
Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased.
Today, God, as You are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad
and give him all my love.

Carroll was a true Native Alutiiq leader in Alaska. He was deeply respected for his upright and honest leadership.

A Chief among us has passed from this life and has returned to his Creator, where, along with numerous Alutiiq ancestors who have gone on before him, he will praise God from Whom all blessings flow; where they will all together continue living in the Presence of God, eternally. Yes, Heaven is that real!

Though I never knew him personally, Mr. Kompkoff was clearly a man who earned great respect and admiration from those who knew him as a friend and community leader and from his family as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to all - especially his children and grandchildren who will miss him especially greatly.

What an inspirational leader and patriarch. He was much admired, not only by his family but by the community at large. I was proud to have known him.
