Aloha Carole, I am so sorry for your loss. I can only guess what you must be going through. Know my thoughts are with you and I wish there was something I could do to help ease the pain. You are a strong women and wise enough to be thankful for what time you did have with Charlie. Your Friend Aways, Tom

As I write, flooded with special memories of Charlie, with his wife and best friend, Carole at his side, his sister, Patti, always nearby, I am recalling the day over four years ago when Carole phoned to say that she'd been seeing someone very special, and had fallen madly in love. It was very touching when she told me Charlie's story and she described this tall, blond, good looking man with a great sense of humor. Not long after, my husband, Larry and I met with them at the symphony, and it was quite apparent why Carole loved this man. Charlie was so full of goodness, positive attitude, and greatness. He became an inspiration over the years to both of us and also to many others. Just a few weeks ago, it was shocking to us when we heard of Charlie's sudden downhill spiral, and then his demise so soon afterwards while we were on a trip to Europe and couldn't be back here. We lit candles in every cathedral or monastary we saw through six countries. Everywhere we went we prayed for Charlie and his beloved Carole. We know you will miss him but trust that the qualities he exemplified will help support and guide you during this difficult time. You have our sympathy and friendship, and I want to assure you that both Larry and I will be here for you and for Charlie's loving sister, Patti, as well. It's been a pleasure to get to know Patti through both you and Charlie. Charlie was truly in that class of men "above he common herd." Carole, you are a woman of great courage, my friend, the affection and love that brought you close to Charlie will surely be a source of strength for you now. Thorton Wilder once said "The highest tribute to the dead is not grief, but gratitude." We offer you our affectionate sympathy, many great memories of a wonderful man, and our gratitude for sharing Charlie with us. Much love.

I knew of Charlie in High
school, everyone did I am happy to have found lots of people thru facebook. I get sad when I hear abt sad things that happen to good people. God has something special in mind for these special people and we all know Charlie is one of them. I hope all is well and I know things get better with time. Talking abt good old memmories is always fun and it always puts a smile on your face so whenever you get sad think abt the good ole times! Jackie Knodel 5/23/11

Aw my old friend, I miss you so much! Growing up at the lake, riding in your little wooden hydro, hanging in Donnie's loft listening to music and writing on the wall!!! We were so young then :) You will always be in my heart. Love you so much and wish I could have that last dance with you... Your friend forever, Sharon...
