In the Jewish tradition, we light a 24 hour candle in memory and in honor of family members who have died, on the anniversary of the death. In my Reform Jewish tradition, I light candles for friends, also. Colleen died a year ago, but she is not forgotten. I realize the anniversary was February 2, but if this Legacy Book is closing, I wanted to make an entry in her honor before it does.

Dear Jim,

Rich and I just learned about Colleen passing away and we want to send you our condolences. After reading her obituary it is clear that you were meant to be together. Our thoughts are with you.

I remember Colleen well from high school class of 74. It is inspiring to hear what she did with her talents. We have a daughter who is handicapped and appreciate hearing Colleen's involvement in Rainbow Connection. That she retained a conscious too in the institutional level of government says a lot about Colleen's integrity. Rest in peace. May her family continue to tell good stories about Colleen that ease some of their deep grief.

Rest in peace my dear friend.
My prayers go out to your family. I will miss you,

Colleen was unique in my life in that she was the only one that I shared my years of high school and Up with people. I liked her from the first moment I met her. Always friendly, funny, smart..., I would bump into her from time to time on return trips to Anchorage. Always the same generous, friendly, caring person she had always been. In recent years I was able to talk to her through emails and discover how full her life was. My life is a better one for having known Colleen and will miss her for who she was and what she gave to all of us.

I've known and worked around Colleen for almost 25 years - first being regulated by her when she was with ADEC, then in competeing consulting firms, and finally getting to work together when she joined BP. I'll never forget the first time we met - standing in line to register for a hazardous waste workshop I was behind this lively and smiling dark haired skinny girl. When I signed in I saw who it was and later introduced myself. Of all the people in that workshop only one wrote in the comments section "I love hazardous waste" We were friends from then on. I will miss her. Condolences to Jim and the rest of the family from both Judy and I

Rest in peace, Colleen, and thanks for touching my life with your laughter and kindness. May we all live as fully as you did.

Colleen's life was surely remarkable, shared with the love of Stratto. God bless her as she rides into heaven.

I am very sorry to hear of Colleen's death. It came much too soon. She was a bright star. I met Colleen in Juneau in 1979 as a fellow interpretive naturalist for the US Forest Service and was impressed by her joyful spirit, enthusiasm and charisma. My sincere condolences to her husband Jim and Colleen's family.

I traveled with Colleen in Up With People and remember her laughing a lot. In a group of 150, one does not get to know everyone well. I am extremely impressed by the life that Colleen led as I read about all of the years since we parted. I only wish that I had remained in contact to cheer her on as she fought to protect the land. I am sure that she is greatly missed.
