Danne G Barber Sr., 77, passed away May 9, 2014, at home in Anchorage. A visitation will be May 12, 2014, from 2-5 p.m. at Legacy Witzleben Funeral Home located at 1707 S. Bragaw Street in Anchorage.
Danne was born on March 6, 1937, to Melvin Barber Sr. and Vivian G. Barber in Modesto, California. He served in the US Army in the Korean, Vietnam, Thailand era. He earned a bronze star for his service and retired from Ft Richardson in 1972. He lived in Allakaket from 1999-2002.
He was a member of St. Christophers and was a Warden. He enjoyed fishing, prospecting, riding snow machines, 4-wheeler, operating a boat, completing a cabin, traveling and cooking breakfast for his granddaughters.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to JBER medical facilities, Fresenius Dialysis, Providence, Sleep Clinic, and Doctor Lucht and Doctor Maciejewski.
His son stated, "My Dad was my father, mentor and best friend."
His wife stated, "He was a great father, very thoughtful of others and never complained. He is in our hearts forever. I love you honey, God bless you, rest in peace."
He is survived by his wife, Matilda; son, Danne; brother, Douglas Barber of Tuscon, AZ; granddaughters, Sammy (Rob), Michelle (Lakota); great grandchildren, Kayven, Jadeson and Paxton; Pat Smith and Family and everyone in the village of Allakeket.

Sorry to hear of your loved one. He was always so kind to us. He told me the story of their wedding in Ancorage. He and Matilda laughed because they said it was a stormy day. Sorry we couldn't be there. Love to danne Jr. and Matilda.You will be in our prayers.

I am very sorry to hear of Uncle Danne's passing. He was the most kind, gentle, and understanding man. My thoughts & prayers are with you, Aunt Matilda & Cousin Danne. May Uncle Danne have eternal peace & joy as he prepares a beautiful place over the way, as he did in life for his beloved family. I love you all very dearly!
