You have had a great loss with Derik and I have much sympathy for you. Sorry for this late entry, but I did not know about this Guest Book.

Kurt and Carol, I don't know if you check this page often but I still wanted to tell you I think of you and Derek every single day. I learned so much from all three of you. The quiet strength Kurt exuded during the most distressing times, the epitome of a mother's love from Carol, and the beautiful person Derek was will always stay with me. It was such an honor to care for him and a true blessing to get to know him. He left a mark on my heart, I will never forget him. You will always reside in my prayers.

I looked up Derek's name after finding him entered in our 1995 calendar book, when he skated at the US Championships in Providence, RI. We were very sad to learn of his passing. We wanted Kurt an Carol to know the special joy he brought to us and our kids, not just on the ice but off of it as well. My son got such a kick out of his tattoos an his affinity to extreme sports, as well as figure skating. He also could not believe the girls that flocked his way when he would be in the lobby after his skate. I can only imagine how much you miss your special son, and I wanted to let you both know how much he meant to us, that magical week of Feb 1995 in Providence. I requested his guest book to remain open so others may share as well. Thank you for sharing your son with the rest of us. God bless u

There are no words to express our heartfelt sympathy with the loss of your son, Derek. We will never understand the loss of a loved one, but especially someone whom we believe should not have been taken so soon. As parents, we hold you up and pray for you and your family. We are so very sorry to hear of Derek's passing. --John & Tommie Savina

Kurt and Carol, please accept our condolences and deepest sympathy in your time of loss. You are living every parent's worst nightmare, but revel in the time you shared together. While we didn't know Derek well, it was always easy to see your pride and love for him. That will never fade....
