I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Elary Gromoff Jr. He was my commanding officer 1976/77 at Fort Gordon, Ga. I will never forget his energy, spirit and the ability to get the most out of those around him, and most of all I will forever remember his smile.

Elary and I were at USMAPS together. There was not a more sincere, dedicated, Duty-Honor-Country-guy in the whole outfit. I'm proud to have known and served with him, and saddened by his departing. Peace to his family.

Some of us have the privilege of working closely with prominent community leaders that impact the lives of so many. I have and I thank Elary from the bottom of my heart for all the support and insight he's given me. I will always hold a tremendous respect for him and his ability to navigate through political divides. Elary brought people together and made a difference that impacted many. Sending love and peace to you and your family! Still thinking of you...you are missed.

My sincere condolences to the Gromoff family during this difficult time. I have fond memories of first meeting with Elary roughly twenty years ago. I remember his kindness and genuine sense of humor. He will be missed by many in the business community throughout Alaska, as well as by his family and friends.

I first met Elary when i was Superintendent of Schools and he was the Deputy Post Commander at Ft. Greely when it was a fully staffed and vibrant Army post in the 1990's. His presence always brought a smile and feeling of confident leadership. Rest well my friend, rest well.

As today winds down I'm officially coming to terms that I will no longer have my uncle "Peanuts" in this journey of life. I feel a bit lost. When life got rough he was always there for me, not matter what was going on in his life he would be there with questions asked. As I grew up I looked up to him, he inspired me to be a better man. He was way more than just an uncle to me. He was the Commissioner of my wedding, the God Father to my children and he was my friend. As the Holidays grew near, my phone would ring. Before I picked up the phone I knew it was him because of the ringtone I have set for him. I would answer and hear his joyous voice on the other end, inviting me and my family over for our traditional dinner. Knowing if I ever hear that tone again and that he won't be on the other end deeply saddens me.
To me he has always been an amazing man... the last two days has confirmed that by sheer numbers of people that attended his service and Celebration of life. He touched so many lives. I am proud to be his nephew.
This is not goodbye... but until we meet again. I love you Uncle.

Hearing of Elary's passing brought sadness to me which then turned to a smile and the fond memory of how he always made me laugh. Eternal peace.

The Seal Pup will always be remembered by his B-3 Bandit brothers. He was a gentle friend with a ready smile and warm heart. Be Thou at Peace.
