Elsie King (Pitka) (Mackey), 89, passed away at Valleywood Assisted Living Home on December 5, 2012.
A public visitation will be held at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery in the Spring of 2013.
Elsie was born near Kokrines, Alaska on June 30, 1923. She attended Eklutna Vocational School and worked Housekeeping and Seafood Processing in Anchorage and Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
Elsie loved to crochet, knit, read, play solitaire; she enjoyed having a beer with friends and listening to music and dancing.
Her family wrote, "She worked hard. Now she has laid down to rest after a long, good life."
Survivors include her sisters Regina Eagleton of Anchorage, AK and Nancy Jones of Gainsville, GA; daughters Elaine Pitka of Fairbanks, AK, Valene Kotongin of Unalakleet, AK, Elizabeth Two Elk of Colorado, Maryann Charos of New Hampshire and Elsie M. King of Anchorage, AK; sons Michael Pinkham of Colorado and Richard King of Anchorage, AK; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; and her caregiver Delfin family at Valleywood Assisted Living Home in Anchorage, AK.
She was preceded in death by her sons James J. King, III and David White; granddaughter Lora L. Harding; brother Harry George Pitka; father Harry James Pitka; and mother Laura George Pitka.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vallywood Assisted Living Home, 2203 Roosevelt Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99517.
