Longtime Alaskan resident, Elva EmoJean "Jean" (Fulton) Rappi, 81, died January 23, 2014 surrounded by family & friends. She was born March 6, 1932 in Bristow, Creek County, Oklahoma, to father Samuel Henry & mother Lillie Mae (Tyner) Fulton. She was a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation.
She attended Dwight Missionary Boarding School in Oklahoma, attended and graduated high school in Bakersfield California. She graduated from nursing school in Vancouver Washington, becoming a LPN.
Jean began her journey in Oklahoma, moving to Bakersfield California with family. Coming to Alaska in 1978, she settled in Seward, marrying Robert Rappi. She began a career as an LPN and retired from the Seward General Hospital. She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends. Her love of community kept her very involved with the ELKS Lodge, VFW, American Legion and don't forget BINGO.
Jean is survived by her brother, Homer Fulton; son, Jimmie Bates and wife, Diane; granddaughter, Jayme and husband, Donavan Steffey; great granddaughters, Nina, Lily; great grandson, Ryker; grandson, Samuel Bates and wife, Isis; great grandsons, Liam and Greysen; grandson, Robert Bates; grandson, Mark Hukill; great grandson, Trevor & wife, Mackensie; great granddaughter, Emily; grandson, Skyler Lovelace Bates; grandson, Tony Robertson & wife, Suzanne; granddaughter, Tamara Cartwright and husband, Carl; grandsons, Cody, Cayden Conner; grandson, Sean Thomson and wife, Kim; great granddaughters, Saundra and Sky; great grandsons, Hunter, Logan, Colton; granddaughter, Carrie Cooper and husband, Eric; great granddaughter, Faith; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Jean was preceded in death by brothers, Arie Cloe, Clayton Fulton; sisters, Mamie Pool, Matilda Heath, Juanita Teague; daughter, Saundra Connolly; grandson, Chad Bates; granddaughter, Michelle Lee Bates.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial services on Saturday, February 15th, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home located at 151 E. Herning Avenue, Wasilla, AK. A Graveside service will be held Saturday July 5, 2014, 12:00 p.m., at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
