Dennis Vladimirovich Chatski passed away unexpectedly November 29, 2012. He is not gone from us; he is alive in the hearts of his family and friends.
Born in Magadan, Russia, Dennis arrived in Alaska with his mother at age 13. Fluent in both Russian and English, Dennis attended West High School. During his many years with the Hotel Captain Cook Dennis first met Kelsey, the woman who would later become his wife and his life. Destined, they reconnected while attending UAA and the best friends married August 2, 2008.
Dennis, Kelsey and son Mekhi moved to Ft. Worth for two years then to Kodiak, where Dennis completed his BS in Technology. After the joyous arrival of son Brodie they returned to Anchorage in 2012.
Life gave Dennis the glorious gift of spending his days with the loves of his life, Mekhi and Brodie. His boundless energy was selflessly dedicated to his family, be it changing diapers, using his culinary skills, losing to Mekhi at Monopoly, building the world's most over-engineered chicken coop or giving Kelsey a backrub at the end of a busy day. He foresaw every need and met it before it was asked; his creativity and innate ability provided solutions to any project he tackled.
Dennis developed close friendships wherever he went. Constantly in motion, Dennis logged thousands of miles on his bike, traipsed Kodiak in search of salmon and hiked in Alaska's beauty. Particularly special was Hatcher's Pass, where Dennis and Kelsey spent many cherished days together.
His light and true heart will be missed by wife and best friend Kelsey; sons Mekhi and Brodie; mother Tatiana and her husband Dennis Warth, and the many people whose lives he touched.
The family invites all to attend the memorial service 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 7 at the Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 440 East Klatt Road located on the grounds of Angelus Memorial Park. Reception to follow.
Please bring your stories of Dennis to share as we celebrate this well-loved man. Remembrances are also appreciated in the on-line guest book.

Dadgumit. It's too soon. Thanks for the good times slinging bags and Rockstars at the Captain Cook.
Kelsey,
I'm sorry, again, for this loss. Words can't comfort you, I know. But I will always be your friend, ready to help any time.

Dennis,
I have so many stories but I am sharing my favorite memory/picture of you. Andria and I didn't have a Christmas tree so you and David created a "tree" on our floor made of candy kisses. Then you posed next to it in a Santa hat.
You had a big affect on my life. I met my best friend because of you. You are also part of the reason that David and I dated, married, and have two beautiful children. You will be missed!

I found an email you sent me years ago, "If I could have just one wish, I would wish to wake up everyday to the sound of your breath on my neck, the warmth of your lips on my cheek, the touch of your fingers on my skin, and the feel of your heart beating with mine... Knowing that I could never find that feeling with anyone other than you is what love is to me!" That is my wish too my sweet husband, that is what love is to me, and that is now what grief is to me as well. I miss you and you are so loved.

Dennis, you were my brother. I have been missing you all these years in the military and wish we could have spent more time together. Knowing that I will not be able to hear your voice again or see your smile when you talk about your family breaks my heart. I wish you peace until we meet again. Your Brother, Michael
