Olga Jean Karlsen passed away at her home in Palmer, Alaska, on Feb. 5, 2015, at the age of 57. Olga was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Feb. 15, 1957, to Lena and John Karlsen. She was a lifelong Alaska resident, originally from Sand Point. She worked as a Dental Assistant in the 1970s, with the Alaska Native Medical Center and as a Bristol Environmentalist from 1996-2000. She was most recently employed as a Communication Technician from 2006-2011, with Alaska Native Medical Center. Olga loved playing and reading with her daughter, Lillian. She cherished time with family during birthdays and holiday and enjoyed playing bingo. Olga accepted the Lord when she was young and reaffirmed her dedication, with her brother and sister, during a hospital stay. Her family says, "Olga had a heart of gold and would help family and friends whenever needed if she was available. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all." Olga is survived by her fiance, William "Bill" Maples; daughter, Lillian Elizabeth Karlsen-Maples; son, Eric (Jolena) Karlsen; grandchildren, Valentino and Kaleigh Renee Jameson; siblings, Eleanor Mitchell, Lydia Skansie, Genevieve Karlsen, Julia Leeper, Andy Duskin, Charlene Roehl, Georgia Holmberg, Karen Karlsen, John Karlsen, George Karlsen, Anthony Choquette, Andrew Karlsen, Paul Karlsen, Julius Karlsen and Joanna Karlsen and their families. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Lena R. Olsen and John K. Karlsen. Funeral services were held on Feb. 10, 2015, at First American Baptist Church/Grace Baptist Temple, 1200 E 27th Ave. in Anchorage. Pastor Roger Holmberg officiated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kehl's Palmer Mortuary, Palmer, Alaska.
