Peace, Dad.

My mother Minnie Kiana and I, her son Chris Kiana Sr. BA, MBA, MA-RD, DBA-ABD. In about 1957 in Fairbanks, mom & I painted a polar bear head on the cowing of a Cessna 140 yellow airplane. George went on to fly this plane until it got wrecked. Out of PT. Hope, hunting for polar bear, George landed plane on a ridge behind spotted bear, the walked toward it. Bear went toward bear, inspected polar hear cowing, scratching it. George got back to plane, found scratch marks on yellow cowing. Because the bear didn't wreck the plane, they let it go.

Lot of fine memories being around George and his planes. Flying here and there when winter boredom set in. Going to the Brooks Range to help pack game out.

I will never forget George when I met him while visiting my sister, Bonnie Dunbar Hahn, in Wainwright . I was 18, ready for adventure. George said we should take his plane and go caribou hunting . I said "sounds good". Off we flew and spotted several caribou near a tiny lake with a landing strip to length of about 40 feet. George landed and we crawled over the tundra a quarter mile, got our caribou, ,quartered them, George packed out two quarters, and I, being young and foolish, packed out two quarters. That, and thereafter a ruptured disk, ended any further caribou packing for me, but I will always remember that fun loving pilot and hunter who always approached life with enthusiasm and a good joke. My family knew George for 60 years..He was part of our family in Wainwright and more years. We loved his stories and his fun loving character and he kept us mesmarized with his many stories. We alwys looked forward to his flying in with our mail and groceries and special items. His name brings smiles of all the hunting, flying and fishing escapades he had and we will miss him.

George Taught me a lot about flying beaver's. I always learned something spending time with him, many things that were not about flying. He will be missed by many.
