Being in Texas after a lot of years in Alaska, it took a while for news of Jack's passing to reach me. Jack was a man with the rare ability to live comfortably in two cultures. He was a great political asset to his District in the Legislature for that reason, and because he always presented his proposals in a way that made others want to agree.
RIP, my old friend. You'll be missed by a lot of people, and for a long time.+
Governor of Alaska, 1986-1990
We were privileged to know Jack in Nome and Gambell. Fond remembrances and caring thoughts to Lee, Abby, and Johnalee.
Please accept our sympathy in your personal loss. Jack served in so many capacities with distinction.

The Gologergen family (Tim & Anna) of Nome remember the good times we had out fishing or, when he used to take our family to Council when we first moved to Nome in his truck. Jack was like a family to us often visiting our parents home. My dad Tim and he were hunting partners out in Savoonga and build a small lodge. We often thought about Jack and recently my son and I were trying to find where he lived so we could visit him. May God continue to surround all of you in his love and with his presence. Our prayers to Abby & Johnna and their families.
My sincere condolences to Lee, Abby and Johnalee. We remember Jack in Pt. Hope when you all lived here and in Nome. It just so happen that I borrowed a book from Pete Lisbourne that Lee wrote about their life in Pt. Hope. Pete and I were just reminising about when you all lived here. He will always be remembered.
