As part of a select community committee, I was honored to advise Superintendent Ackerman during her tenure in San Francisco. She had a great passion for education. She was committed to children and was very professional. She knew how to put you at ease.
Education in America has lost a champion... May God Comfort you as her Life and Work is celebrated...

As a teacher and as a parent of a child who attended D.C. Public Schools I had the greatest respect for
Ms. Ackerman. She epitomized professionalism and was unyielding in her quest for excellence. As a parent and a teacher I believe it was our city's greatest loss to the educational system when she left. y most profound sympathies to her family.

My deepest sympathy. Please know that the God of all comfort is with your family and will help you to endure the loss of your loved one. {Romans 15:5}

May the god of comfort be a source of strength for your famiy at this dificult time. 2Corn 1:3, 4. Deepest Sympathy, Sue, Concord, NC
When we first met I said "Barbara Sizemore was my first mentor" and Dr. Ackerman stopped cold , locked eyes with me, started to tear-up and gave me a huge hug. Dr. Ackerman was the original "gladiator", cut from the Sizemore mindset set of the child first and foremost. Philadelphia, like DC and everyother venue is unique, but Dr. Ackerman stood her ground, loudly and clearly eschewing the "politics" and put the children first. I'll miss our WWBD, "What Would Barbara Do?" sessions...
