There are a handful of videos on Youtube that feature this gentleman. Search for his name, there are two videos from Rebekah Tempel. And another video from 'howtheman63'. I do miss talking with Harold. I worked as a doorman at Humpys for 6 years, and everyone who worked there enjoyed his nearly nightly visits as he made his rounds of the downtown area.

I encountered "Happy" Harold Ward from time to time downtown where I worked for several years. While rarely in need of our services, he was always a welcome presence in the office. It is so rare to encounter someone who wants to contribute, and asks for nothing in return. I still have his "business card" and was sad to learn of his passing, and grateful for the opportunity to know him, if only briefly. Even years later, he lives on in memories of people whose lives he touched.

For Betty and family, so sorry to read about Harold. I have fond memories of conversations with Harold (back in the Nerland's days) about the old days in Tacoma and some of my relatives that Harold knew of and I always appreciated his smile and upbeat attitude. I think Betty's care made a lot of that possible. My thoughts are with you.

For Happy

Dear Ramona and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. I knew Happy Harold for a few years - what a wonderful and delightful person! Ramona, the loving dedication I saw you give your father this past year was such a gift to him. You were his best and trusted friend. Whenever I was with you, you were either calling your Dad, or someone else to organize an outing or appointment for him. What a super daughter! Bless you and your family at this time.

Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Ward. "Happy Harold" as he was known to all of us at the Anchorage Pioneer Home, earned that name daily. He could put a smile on our faces no matter how bad the day was going. Harold was a member of our American Legion Post #4 and always brought stories of his enlistment to our meetings. Thanks you for sharing your father/husband with us and giving us a reason to smile!

For Harold's family...I've just added a photo of the one & only time I met your special guy--but as you know, he made a big impression! A friend & I were lucky enough to get to be on Harold's "rounds" that evening when we stopped at the Inlet Towers for a drink. We had a great time hearing his stories and I remember how strongly he felt that the stories of his fellow elders at the Pioneer Home needed to be heard. I was so sad to read of his passing today and wanted to share that I'm sure Harold brightened the lives of countless people you might never know about just like he did ours that evening--he was an unforgettable character and I hope that thought will brighten this time for you, even a little bit. Peace and comfort to you all...
