I wish to offer my condolences to Merit, Jeff and all the Waldrop family. I remember Ike well as a young baseball player in Anchorage and I was influenced by his positive attitude. He will be sorely missed by all.

I worked with Ike from February 1962 until we both retired. He was reponsible for assuring that I was given credit for ALL of my years in the Local (47 now) and made sure that my retirement was given.

Much more than that, he was a good friend and decent, reponsible man that we could all trust. He was also very effective in this career. He never lost sight of what brotherhood and union is all about.

I will miss you, Brother,

I knew Ike as a fellow electrician and business manager of #1547. Ike and I testified in Juneau, AK before the Alaska Legislature in electrical matters, in the 70's I believe. Ike for Labor amd me for Management. Always a fair man we had our differences over the years, however, Ike commanded respect by his professional approach and wisdom of issues! Ike was well thought of throughout the construction industry, he will be missed Erldon"Speed" Gratrix

My condolences to Merrit & Jeff and their families. Ike will be missed by many of us whom new him. That includes my wife Andi and I. He was a special person to all of us IBEW local 1547 members.

Our mother worked for IBEW in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Her name was Jeanne Smith. She spoke often of Ike. My sister and I are Jennifer Deitz and Stephanie Klemmer. I remember that the flagpole and globe on the Anchroage Park Strip was raised by 1547.We do not have many memories of Ike except that we as young girls always thought his name was "Funny". I would like to contact Mrs. Waldop personally. My email address is [email protected] Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Many of the benefits I enjoy as a retired hand of #1547 are attributed To "IKE". I enjoyed working under you and you have my blessings. God speed.

As a young DJ on the radio in Anchorage, I started a movement to unionize the radio announcers, IKE guided me and when the movement failed IKE offered me a job fixing stop lights in Anchorage. I did not take him up on his offer. But, I appreciated his support and kindness when the other DJ's in Anchorage did not support my efforts. He was a man of his word, a good man.
