Glenn had a quiet strength that was often expressed by his warm kindly smile and twinkling eyes. One quickly realized he was trustworthy and would be a valuable friend. We were friends for many years.
We first met Glenn through his wife with whom we worked at a mental health clinic that was in Berwick until it moved to Morgan City, Louisiana. One day Glenn mentioned that he had a more serious issue he wanted to discuss. He had a financially inviting opportunity for a job change that would involve his moving to Anchorage, Alaska. The deal looked attractive, but he had reservations about moving so far away from his family's many friends and loved ones.
We knew Glenn and his family had qualites that would attract strong friends and loved ones wherever they lived. So we said, "Glenn, you also have a lot of friends and loved ones in Anchorage. You just haven't met them yet!"
Glenn grinned back and said "Yeah, we've pretty much decided we should move, too."
Our contacts with Glenn and his family were then less frequent, but our friendships remained unchanged. His warmth and kindness will always stay strong within our memories and hearts.

Popa will always hold a special place in my heart he has touched so many people with his kindness and laughter. We feel priveleged and blessed to have met such a wonderful man and family! We are reassured that he is back to his robust self smiling down at us all. You are all in our prayers.

Toni - you might not remember me, I'm a patient of Dr. S. I picked up my paper and saw that Kalvin had passed away... You have had so much tragedy in your life. I am so very sorry to read this. I know it sounds lame, but if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know... You have been an angel in my life.

When I think of the phrase "he would give you the shirt off his back" that describes Glenn absolutely. He loved people and was totally devoted to his family. He always gave a big hug to "Miss Cathy" which he called me. The book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by Rabbi Harold Kushner may bring comfort to those who loved Glenn since a terrible disease surely took the life of an outstanding human being. I loved you Glenn and will miss our times together. May God hold you and your special family in the palm of his hands.
