In 1975 Kata taught the Head Start program in South Naknek. Then four year old Scott still remembers how kind she was to help him adjust. Kata had a love of life that shone through her beautiful smile. She dearly loved Charlie and Lydia and her entire family. It was a joy to work with her and have her as a neighbor. She will always hold a special place in our hearts. May God comfort those who are missing Kata.

To Lydia, Bill, Deb, Micaela and to the rest of the Groat family
I never met your Kata, but I wish I had. I remember fondly Lydia's stories of her mom and the laughter that we shared when she told them to us. Because of these stories I can tell Kata was an amazing woman, as a teacher she was a positive influence to many young children and as a mother/grandmother she left many fond memories that will help carry her family thru this difficult time.
We love you guys.
Denise and family

We would like to send our sympathy to Charlie, Lydia and the rest of the family. In all of my years in teaching I have never worked with a more caring and cheerful person. We think fondly of those years in South Naknek. You can take comfort in the fine legacy that Kata has left with all her students and a fellow educators.

Charlie and family,
We are sorry to hear of the loss of Kata. Linda and I sure enjoyed her in our time at South Naknek. Linda sure appreciated Kata as a teacher in South Naknek and mentioned numerous times what a good teacher she was. May God comfort you at this time of loss. We have good memories of you folks and miss the people of South Naknek.

I am so sorry to hear of this great loss! May God bless family and friends with comfort at this time and we will cherish memories. (Went from Boat Creek to their house with Val scarring me about bears, I ran really fast, that was one summer fishing in Naknek)

We feel so sad to hear this news. Kata should be writing in OUR guest books in the future years. She was such a great lady - a good person - and it was a privilege to know her. Our condolences to her wonderful family members. Tony and Jeanine Littau

I will miss her warm smile in the hallway. She always found a way to be cheerful even on bad days. We are thinking about Kata's family and hoping you will find comfort to know that she touched so many lives in such a wonderfully kind way. Emmett and Leslie Mitcham, Naknek AK
