Many years ago, Lia helped me buy my first 'real' fiddle, when she was working at the fiddle shop in Honolulu. When I was learning to play, she was inspiring to watch and listen to. Very sad to hear this news.

I became acquainted with Lia when she contacted the Reindahl Registry to register her violin. She was so refreshing and talented, and she loved and believed in what she did. I was dismayed later, when she contacted me to say she needed to sell her violin in order to off-set medical expenses- she would have to get another, lesser violin, but she felt it was a reasonable trade-off. Occasionally, I name an instrument, usually after the original owner or some known significant fact about it. In the Reindahl Registry, violin #576 shall henceforth be known as the Lia Zito. Rest in Peace Lia, you are greatly missed.

Nearly a year has passed, and I/we continue to miss you. The world would be a better place with you still here.
We should all remind ourselves and our friends that the loss of one person as lovely and passionate as Lia diminishes us all.

I still miss you.

Lia it saddens me to hear you are gone. Your music was spiritual. I remember the night at UAF you played solo "Staker Wallace Lament" . It moved me to tears . I have never heard so sweet and sad a rendition in my long life. Over the years I searched the web for your version of such an amazing tune. I live in Staker Wallace Country in Ireland and I tell the natives YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS TUNE BY LIA and Im disappointed I cannot produce a recording for them to hear. I know that the Fairbanks music community held Lia with high regard as a musician and as a person. God bless you and the Zito Family .

I met Lia when I was in Anchorage in 2010 doing mission work. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Always smiling, funny, patient and inspiring. I just learned of her passing and am so saddened. My sincere condolences to her family.

An inspiring teacher and a brilliant musician, who gave her best to the music and to the people she loved. Her fabulous playing was never adequately recorded, but she left what there was of it at:

Lia was a dear friend and person to me. We lost touch over the last few years and I often thought of her and her smile. I look forward to seeing my friend, and sister in the truth in the future. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and our mutual friends.

This is so sad. She was such a compassionate person and an insightful, patient and passionate teacher. I learned so much about life during the years I was her student.
