Dear Maureen,

God bless your dear mama and rest her weary soul. What a trooper she was. Thank you so much for writing and for sharing your picture of Miss Ada with her Grandma! It is a beautiful photograph and not one that all little girls ever get to have. You can help her remember by showing her this picture and saying where’s Grandma? There’s Grandma! :-) If you talk about it and say it enough, Ada may be able to remember her.

I’m sure that your sweet mommy is with your dad. How comforting it must have been for your mama to be able to die holding your hand. I am deeply sorry for your loss—for your losses—and for all the pain and suffering. I wish you rest and relief and the realization that you have been a great blessing to both your parents.

I did not understand that you were able to keep your mama in her home. That is truly wonderful! And that she was able to keep her kitties must have been such a comfort to her. What a long, sweet, and sad goodbye you have had, Maureen. I know that you made your mama’s life even more worth living just by being her daughter. That you graced her with little Ada was a precious gift. When my Aunt Lillie was dying, Mischa was a baby—and he cheered everyone up as we were making many final visits, never knowing if it would be the last. We had hospice care to help (my mother stayed with her the last 2 weeks, coming home to rest at our house every once in awhile). Aunt Lillie, too, was a real fighter. She was a stubborn lady and after we had all had a chance to tell her how much we loved her a number of times, my cousin and my mom reassured her that it was really ok to stop fighting, she finally let go.

It was a beautiful memorial service at St. Patricks and a warm and wonderful reception at the house after. It was nice to meet the rest of your family. Take good care of yourself, now, Maureen.

With love,

Thanks for the notification Maureen. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm so glad I got to meet her and even spend a little time with her.
Its so amazing as the circle of life plays out; that you were lucky to have her, and she was lucky to have you.
My best wishes to Brian and Adrian too.
Love, Jordan

Maureen, Brian, and Adrian, your mom was a beautiful person who can rest in peace knowing that, among other things, she raised three lovely, intelligent, and compassionate children. She was blessed to have the three of you and little Ada there to care for her.

Even though my memories of Aunt Mae are only of when she married my uncle and when Maureen and Adrian were very young, they are fond memories of a kind and gentle person. I came to know her better through letters and pictures from my uncle. I am blessed to have known even a small portion of her. She will be missed greatly by all.

Dear Maureen, Adrian & Brian-
I'm so sorry for the loss of your Mom. She really was a special lady - such a funny sense of humor, and one of the sweetest hearts I've ever known. The world is definitely better for her having been a part of it.

For sure He must be knowing
The earth has angels all too few
And heaven is overflowing"

Dear Maureen,
I am thinking about you and I send all my love. It is hard to say the
best, right things during this time. I am hoping you have some relief
that your mom is not in pain anymore, the joy that she got to see some
of Ada growing up. I am sure she is with your dad and they are in a
beautiful place. It was a privilege to know how kind and sweet your mom
was. I will include you and your family in my prayers. Please give my
love to your brothers as well during this time.

Maureen, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She sounds like a great mom. It's easy to see your apple did not fall far from her tree. I'm thinking of you. Leslie Ridle
