To all the Brudie gang. So sorry to hear about your Mom. She was such a wonderful lady and a warm soul. I have very fond memories of her!!

First, I'm sorry I was unable to attend the celebration of life for Mary Pat. I'm sure it was a well-attended affair, knowing that Mary Pat was beloved by so many. Mary Pat was one of the first people I met when I arrived in Alaska in 1973 on an internship from the University of California, Santa Cruz. The obituary correctly notes that Mary Pat was mom to so many more than her six kids. I'm honored to consider myself one of her de facto "children" back when I was hanging out at the Alaska Center for the Environment, when it was headquartered in a very tiny old house on 6th Ave. I was always in awe of her ability to calmly and lovingly cope with all her family responsibilities, work for Eivin, and volunteer at ACE. In fact "cope" is not the right word. More appropriately, she seemed to effortlessly keep all these balls in the air with lightness and joy. She was truly remarkable! I will always remember Mary Pat's infectious smile. My sincere condolences to all her many survivors, biological and otherwise, who adored her and will carry on the Brudie legacy.

To all the Brudie family, Your mom was such a precious soul. I so enjoyed seeing her. We had so many wonderful chats. Her huge smile was a gift. Tough and soft at the same time.
