Being based in Indonesia, I just learned of Maynard's passing and wanted to say what a wonderful guy he was.

Don't get back to Alaska all that often but every time I visited, we would all go out for a nice meal and catch up on "old times".

He was a great friend and respected colleague and his passing will be felt by so many Alaskans.

Dr. PDG, Jakarta, Indonesia

I'm late to this party, you've all said it for me; he changed lives, he changed mine and made the world a better place - no small feat. Here's a little Maynard story if you need a smile he loved to tell this story from when we were in Venezuela. Late after a night out, he gave a girl a ride home. Always the gentleman, he walked her to the door. But she wouldn't let him leave, she kept pulling his arm saying keys! keys!. Finally, in frustration he grabbed her hands and said here's your keys, they're in your hand. no! no! she said, and puckered her lips and said Keeesss (kiss). Here's a keess' for you my friend earth 0, angels 1.

I am deeply saddened by this late coming (to me) news. Conversations with Maynard always left me feeling like I was a better man than perhaps I am. His encouragement and positive attitude will always resonate with me. My sincerest condolences for family and close friends. He will be dearly missed.
May our Father embrace him with brilliance of light, love and laughter eternally.

I enjoyed Maynard every time I saw him. He was everybody's friend. Genuine and caring human. He was instrumental in making Alaskan professionals work as a team.

Such a sweet man. Back in the 80's working temp jobs for BP and he made me a hero by teaching me programming with Lotus. I was on a new job and he helped me at night become a success at it. Fun times fishing on the Kenai at Lee's and thanks for all the invites to your Christmas parties over the years. Will miss the hugs whenever I saw you.

Loved this man and will miss him dearly. I'm so thankful to have known him, to have him as a friend. He was simply the best. So sorry for all his friends, families, co-workers, employees. God Bless.
