Yesterday was Veterans Day 2016. . .
Mike is one of those folks that I honor as my Brother and Carol as my Sister !
You left a lasting Legacy with the hearts you touched and the butts you kicked

CAROL,
I AM VERY SAD TO HEAR OF MIKES PASSING. EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT KEEP IN CONSTANT CONTACT I ALWAYS CONSIDERED HIM A TRUE FRIEND AND WILL MISS HIM GREATLY.

Dear Carol,

I was saddened to hear of Michael's passing. My sincere condolences to you. Even though we haven't seen much of you in the past years, I would hear about you two from my son who took his Toyota to Michael for fixing, or from other mutual friends. I will always remember his enthusiasm for everything; he was so passionate about life, about climbing, about you. I'll plan on seeing you Saturday.

I drove young Arthur to camp and myself to work this morning in a 1995, oxford white, single cab, long bed, 5-speed, two-wheel drive, Ford F-250, Powerstroke pickup truck, the purchase of which afforded us the opportunity to meet Mike and Carol, about a year and a half ago.

At the time, Mike was battling his illness, his courage inspiring, his outlook upbeat, and his joy at having more days to enjoy with family, friends and co-workers genuine. Though our meeting was very brief, I recall clearly Mike’s plain-spoken way, his quick and easy conversation, and his ability to turn a phrase – all of which made him memorable, even to a family who talked to him for no more than a couple of hours.

Our sympathy goes to his loved ones. Our hope is that they in time will temper their sorrow with the knowledge that Mike touched lives. His memory rides Alaska’s road system with us… in his pickup.
