Michalyn "Mike" Joan Bathke, 81, passed away on Nov. 3, 2016, in Surprise, Ariz., with family by her side. Michalyn was born on April 23, 1935, to Charles "Bill" and Eunice Hines in Stites, Idaho. She graduated from high school in Lewiston, Idaho, and then earned her registered nursing degree from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing. After spending a year nursing in New York, Michalyn then joined her older sister, Patricia, on their great adventure in Ketchikan, Alaska. There, she met her husband and the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Bathke. They were married on Aug. 29, 1959, and raised their five children in Ketchikan until 1977. Michalyn worked as an RN at Ketchikan General Hospital, and later at the private clinic of Dr.'s Wilson, Wilson & Wilson. In 1977, Michalyn and Bob moved their family to Anchorage, Alaska. In 2002, Bob and Michalyn moved to their dream home in Surprise, Ariz., where they enjoyed going for scenic drives and watching spring training baseball games.
Throughout her life, Mike enjoyed many adventures: from horseback riding in the remote Idaho wilderness as a youth and hunting and fishing in Southeast Alaska, to joining family and friends traveling the country and journeying to the South Pacific and Caribbean. Mike's wise but sassy attitude, her fun and creative nature will always be remembered and treasured. Mike's strength, resilience and ability to cope with her medical ailments was amazing. Her quick wit, love of life (and desserts) and great smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Michalyn was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Bob (Who met her at Heaven's gate saying "Mike, what took you so long?" and we know Mike's reply was "I'm here now Bob, so just shut up."); her parents, Bill and Eunice Hines; and her sister, Patricia Hines.
Michalyn is survived by her son, David (Tane') Bathke; daughters, Liz Larson, Mary (Larry) Banning, Nancy (Robbie) Hill and Barbara Bathke; grandchildren, James Larson, Katie Larson, Amanda (Ski) Davis, Brianna (Vance) Bali, Kenneth (Taylor) Banning, Dane Foy and Emily Hill; great-grandchildren, DeShaun and Quinn Davis, and Aizlee and Henlee Bali; and brother, Chuck (Renee) Hines.
A private memorial was held in Surprise, Ariz.

I met your Mom when I was just a little girl and she always treated me like one of her own, kind and gracious but not afraid to tell me to shut up when I needed it! Your parents were awesome and I hope knowing they are together again is a comfort.
