You only had to meet Suzanne to forever love her and be affected by her exuberant joyful spirit... Does anyone know when her memorial is being held in her hometown in VT?

I too was privileged to have met Suzanne in her initial Flight Attendant class for Alaska Airlines. My life took some rough turns and I was unable to join her in her journeys when she invited me but her zany exuberance will forever be burned in my mind and heart. I will miss you my friend, more than you could ever know. Rest with the Angels as surely they will revel in your company as did we. Sandra Hartnell

I was so saddened to hear about Suzanne's death. Suzanne was a spirited and passionate volunteer for causes she cared about- I got to know Suzanne when I worked at Sierra Club. It seemed she had hardly been in Alaska a week before she was putting her time and energy into protecting the wild places she already cared about. We only overlapped in Anchorage for a year, but I've never forgotten her smile and infectious energy.

I met Suzanne a few times through a mutual friend, Mary V. Suzanne was so full of life and inspiration!! I came across this story and wanted to share it because it reminded me of Suzanne. I just know she'd love this:
The Story of the Dragonfly.....
In the bottom of an old pond lived some grubs. They could not understand why none of their group ever came back after crawling up the stems of the lilies to the top of the water. They promised each other that the next one who was called to make the upward climb would return and tell what happened to them. Soon one of them felt an urgent impulse to see the surface. He rested himself on the top of a lily pad and went through the glorious transformation that made him a dragonfly, with beautiful wings. In vain he tried to keep his promise. Flying back and forth over the pond, he peeked downward at his friends below. Then he realized that even if they could see him, they would not recognize such a radiant crature as one of their numbers. The fact that we cannot see our loved ones or communicate with them after their transformation, which we call death, is no proof that they have ceased to exist. Fly, loved one, fly. We will love you always!!

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time carrying our hopes for love, joy & celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning & that laughter is life's sweetest creation. From now on when I sit on the deck of my house in Glacier Bay watching the hummingbird's at the feeders, I will always think of Suzanne because her life & spirit is like that of the hummingbird. My condolences to the family

Gail, we're both so deeply saddened by this big hole in your heart. We wish there were words to make it better. It's unimaginable.
Hugs and love,
