I lived most of my childhood as verns neighbor, I knew vern growing up af his gas station and would stop in and see him as a small child and he would give me candy, as a teenager my car broke down on eagle river road and he showed up out of nowhere like a angel, and tried to help, when he couldnt he got me home safe, everytime I saw vern he had a huge smile his smile was infectious, always telling me how beautiful lady I was, I cannot say how much a loss this is, knowing hes with God helps that he will be there waiting for all of us with that smile, MY FRIEND

Words of comfort simply cannot meet the magnitude of your loss. May the peace that comes from the memories give you much comfort in the days ahead. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was Vernon's dispatcher when he worked at Mammoth of Alaska and at TOTE. He was a class act and will be sorely missed.

Dearest Uncle Vernon,
Much thanks for being my father figure the past 33 years. After loosing my father at age 11, I didn't have a sense of direction until joining the US Air Force. What a difference it made in my life when I accepted orders to Alaska. Thanks to my Mother, Novella, I was able to meet my Uncle, Aunt & grow with six cousins. You became my mentor, friend, instilling some virtues that a handshake & mans word is his bond, a "Gentlemen's Agreement". Because of this I went on to became an Alaskan, serving in the Alaska Air National Guard and the State of Alaska. Again, "Thank you", your nephew, Marc

I am sorry to hear of Vern's passing. I worked with him at TOTE and always enjoyed his smile. He was always kind and I have fond memories of him.
