Vivian Sloan Obituary

Vivian Lou Sloan (also known as Pat Sloan), age 89, of Haines, Alaska, passed away on January 5, 2013.

She was born in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on April 21, 1923, to the late William and Anna Hockenberry. Vivian married the late Fred Sloan in 1941 and moved to Juneau, Alaska in 1950 where they managed the Fosbee Apartments for ten-years. In 1975 they moved to their home in Haines where Vivian remained until her passing.

Vivian was a charter member of Alaska Pioneers; a member of Catholic Daughters of America; Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Juneau; and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Haines. She was also a benefactor to many local residents and charities in the Haines community. One of her favorite hobbies was to share her handmade knit and crochet items with family and friends.

Vivian "Pat" Sloan is survived by her three children: Jodie Clarke, of Anchorage, Alaska; Fred Sloan, Jr. (Nancy) of Haines, Alaska; and Janet O'Malley (Joe), of Juneau, Alaska.

She is also survived by her granddaughters: Liesl Bland, Stella Keller (Wes), Jennifer Clarke, Katie Sloan and Tara Janu (Ronnie); great-grand children: Kira Keller, Alya Keller, Sloan Pettyjohn, Rylee Jo Sloan, Little-Ronnie Janu and Logan Janu; nieces: Lorraine Davis (Duke), Patsy Sanders (Carl), and Lynn Baida (Bob); her longtime friend and companion Ed Fabeck and special friends: Ted Vadman, Marge Haag, Darlene Tyson, and Jan Burke.

Funeral arrangements are not complete at this time and will be announced later.
