Dear Dr. Mell,

Thinking of you today during this sad and difficult time. I will miss Dr. Mell soooooo very much. I have MANY memories of the dinners that we shared at your home and MANY dinners that you both spent with us at the home of my parents (Ed and Bettie McDonald). Laughter and tears of joy were ENDLESS and filled the atmosphere each time that we were together. Dr. Mell was one of the most caring and gentle men that I have known. He was a dedicated artist and a first class educator who NEVER tolerated mediocracy. Finally, one of his greatest gifts, one that I will always admire him for, was his absolute love and non negotiable devotion to you. Sending you tons of LUV and keeping you both in my prayers.

Carole, my thoughts are with you. There will be some tough times ahead. I would consider it an honor if you called me and maybe we can laugh and love together about being a widow.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a mentor to me when I began teaching at Service High.

Carol,

I was saddened to learn of Bill's passing. I very much respected his leadership in ASD as well as his sense of humor.

Sincerely,

Larry Wiget

Bill was a great and kind man. I had the good fortune to work with him for several years. One of the many words of wisdom Bill passed to me was once during a very difficult time he advised, "Maintain dignity." Those words have always stuck with me. Rest in peace Bill.

My thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his entire family. Bill was just finishing up his career in 1994 when I first came to Alaska. As an administrator, I had many conversations with Bill and interns over the years while he worked at UAA. I enjoyed hearing about his experiences, his wisdom, and his calm and very intelligent approach he took with students. Bill will be missed in Anchorage.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May you find comfort in the promise made at 1 Thessalonians 4:14. Please read and share with others this promise from God.
