Thank you Helen Thomas for your insight, honesty and courage. I have watched you for generations get to the heart of a controversy, unearth the truth and bring out the facts and honesty of the concern. You always cut through the "crap" and dealt with the real concern. If people were uncomfortable, threatened, with the truth, then that was their problem, not yours! You will be missed by millions, me
being only one. But I appreciate your drive and compassion for the truth, so rare today, and I thank you. Rest dear Helen. Know there are many of us who have always appreciated you. A light of truth and honesty has gone out with your passing.

Although I didn't always agree with Helen, or her assessments, I greatly admired her understanding of the "free press" and to keep digging for stories that politicians wanted to suppress under the guides of a top secret status.

I wrote her an E Mail note a few years ago responding to an article of hers that I appreciated and she E Mailed me back. Her note was merely signed "Helen".

God bless her and may she RIP.

A gutsy woman who shot from the hip when it came to journalism. She will be missed. RIP Helen.
July 21, 2013
I met and spoke at length with Helen in the "old" Detroit Airport on my way home from a business trip shortly after her book, " Front Row at the White House" came out. I recognized her immediately-followed and admired her in the news and WH press sonferences for years - warm, sincere, smart, witty, impeccable and with her cascades of pearls at her neck and flowing down the front of her outfit. She said to me as we spoke, " We need more women activists like you...." Me, less than half her age being addressed as a professional--woman to woman. She was genuinely interested in me and conveyed that throughout our conversation. Another woman, who clearly didn't recognize her, later asked me, "Who was that you were talking to?" after had Helen boarded her flight. I said, " She is walking history, a great woman...that is Helen Thomas". My sincerest condolences to Helen's family and friends.

Helen took the time to return an E-mail from me during the GW Bush years, it was quite an honor and certainly demonstrated her down to earth approach to life. To her family my heart is with you, I know the sting of loosing a loved one too, my prayers are with you.

What a gutsy woman! A tell it like it is character who will be missed by many. I never met Helen but sure would have loved to share some conversation with her. I admired her truthfulness and persistence. May you rest in peace. You served your country well and with integrity!

Ms. Thomas may have pushed the envelope, but she was well-respected in her field and widely regarded by readers & followers as one of our countries best journalist ever. I applaud her for pushing that envelope, for being brave and courageous and going after our leaders for the truth our American public deserved. I attended an appearance of hers while in college and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. May her family & friends be at peace knowing Ms. Thomas has found her peace. Rest in peace, Ms. Thomas & thank you much for all the great presidential press conference memories & lessons along the way. There will never be another you! Connie S. Koch, Oregon, Ohio

Helen enjoyed the right of Americans to have a voice, and, yes, did. We may not always agree with her, but her voice had us spar over her voicings. She had a good nature, was an intelligent, remarkable, independent, unafraid, woman since the 1940's plying her beat. SEVEN DECADES; had to retreat only with years catching-her-up and a White House Press Front catching-up too with opportunity as she gave unmeasured voice to ideas of the Israel-Palestine dilemma. However, women and men of thought and words would do well to see her as a mentor in these times; push the envelope if "the feed" does not fit the stats. Her imagination and journalist smarts questioned the promotion of an UNACCEPTABLE Public Relations of All and Any topic Helen found wanting, and she VOICED IT. In accord with you or no, CHEERS for a great work ethic Helen, cheers! Sometimes fan, and admirer always of your spunk to DISCOVER. Stir-it-up where you go, & go well to that new venue, Helen. ginn hart,Jersey Girl,At.Hlds.
