Les was the most genuine and sincere of dear friends. I knew Les through our work together in floodplain managment. He was an insightful, articulate and forward thinking water resources and floodplain managment expert. He was gifted in his ability to look ahead, anticipate and sort together a vision. In addiiton to his expertise as an engineer he was remarkable as a communicator, writer and even orator. Les could handle it all. My most lasting memory though is of his welcoming spirit, his delight in people, his generosity with others and the joy he took in those around him. Les intorduced me to Hatch, NM, green chilis and a recipe to go with. I have some thawing right now that will be transformed into a pungent dip. Thank you Les for nourishing the mind, the heart and even the palate. You have given me treasured memories and traditions that will sustain me for a life.
