Choosing to serve in World War II as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard on board the U.S.S. Callaway during the Pacific campaign, Bill survived one of the first kamikaze attacks of the war and was honorably discharged in March 1946.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Betty Decker, Louise Fitts and June Charlton.

Bill was a deeply religious and musically talented cowboy with a strong passion for the Great American West. Although he was never able to pursue his life-long dream as a full-time cowboy, he often helped his ranching friends work their ranches when they were short-handed. Bill also contributed to his local church as an active witness and lay preacher. From an early age Bill loved listening to and playing music. Performing in a family band from a young age, Bill went on to play as a band musician for local dances and as a special musical guest for his church. As a loyal, loving father, he chose to forego his life-long dream of being a cowboy and instead worked in the auto repair industry to support his family. Bill made many friends in his personal and professional life and often spoke fondly of them. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Vickie McKinzey and Rose Mollan for their support and all his friends from Al-o-mars Cafe in Tularosa.
The honorary pallbearers are Erwin Johnson, John Cherry, Frank Rust, Dr. Gary Siebel, Dwaynne Efird, Clyde Orr, Matt Griffin, Pete Griffin, Joe Shanto and Bernie Burnett.
The family would also like to thank the congregation of the Alamogordo Seventh-day Adventist Church for their generous and caring visits and spiritual support.
Flowers for Bill may be sent to Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 N. Scenic Dr., Alamogordo, NM 88311. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Bill Hagee would be appreciated to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarrierproject.org.
