From a member of the public who knew him only by the characters he portrayed through his life's work, Mr. Griffith had a magical quality that was endearing, one that made a person feel comfortable, accepted and protected. A person couldn't help but feel as though s/he knew him personally. This must have been both a blessing and a curse for him. Although he did not know me, the mark he made on my life through his work bears significance: his passing was a personal loss to me. I was deeply saddened by his death, but now have comfort knowing of his prior acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, knowing he dwells in heaven. Having no choice in the matter of saying goodbye to a loved one is the most painful part of life. My condolences to Mr. Griffith's family, and my appreciation to them for the sacrifices they surely have had to make because of his fame. Thank you, Andy Griffith, for the life lessons and secure feeling you gave us all as Andy Taylor in Mayberry. You live on in our hearts. With much love.
