The loss is deeper than the ocean's depth; as deep as the love so many have for Andy. That will remain in the present as we surf with more respect for nature for the lessons we can learn. Just to enjoy the ocean is a gift from God! Andy's youthful attitude will be with us when we paddle out, bringing new meaning to our experience, shining the light on the eternal destiny of our passions.

My buddy's young son had a birthday this past weekend and we did an Andy Irons tribute. Everybody made TShirts with Andy's name on it. Anywhere from 3 to 14 everybody made Andy shirts to pay tribute. I watched Andy when he was a kid and said that guy is going to be world champion some day. Not only was he champ he was 3 times world champ when Kelly was at the top of his game. He will be missed by millions and the day he died was similar to the day Michael Jackson died - except Michael was all over the news and surfers everywhere were calling each other. I'm at a loss for words for his wife, his brother, family, and all those effected. It doesn't seem right not to have an Irons on the WTC. Maybe Bruce can share some of the magic with us again. I was so fired up when Andy was back on the tour, had him on my fantasy team, and stoked to have a top American competitor back in the ring. I was ecstatic about his win at Chopes. I stayed in the same hotel he stayed at in Salina Cruz and saw the hat he wore when he won the contest at Barra. I've seen surfers and friends pass but this one really hurts.
