12.28.08 I still miss you fiesty lady, best gov. I lost you and your second biggest fan in the same year. It was a bad year, but those have ended. A man we can all be proud of has broke another class ceiling in the Good Ole Boy's Club. Love, Stephen

You were my heroine.

Mrs. Anne Richards: I doubt if Texas will get over losing you. You meant so much and did so much for this state. I had high hopes of you being a Vice President candidate one day, but God needed you more than us and the final decision was his. If I close my eyes, I can see Ed Bradley interviewing you after your selection as the Democratic Vice President. We miss you! I know you have them laughing up there in Heaven. May God continue to give your family strength in the days ahead.

Ann, I am thinking of you today, and how much you have meant to me over the years, though I never met you. You have influenced me and inspired me in so many ways..personally,professionally, and politically...Your warmth and integrity, and your compassion drive me to seek to find the same within myself. So I hope you dont mind if I call on your wisdom from time to time, as I move towards my career as an educator...or if I channel your spirit politically, every time I feel the need to rally against the injustices still levelled against women and children in this world...If I do so, it is with deepest respect and regard for your memory, and your legacy... We are still here Ann doing the work you love, for the people who need a hand,a voice or just someone to believe in them...
We need you Ann, now more then ever...
You are missed,M'am...
With deepest respect-

I am Canadian citizen who lived in Boston for 17 years and over the course of that time became familiar with the public face of Ann Richards. I was always amazed by her authenticity and dedication to issues that really mattered in peoples' lives. She was always focused on how she could better the lives of humanbeings especially women and the marginalized. She came across as both feisty but warm and compassionate at the same time. I just became aware that she passed away. She was a great spirit and will be missed.
