My husband has left the room, crying, as I just informed him that I heard about the death of Dr. Magoon. He saved my husband's life, or at least his sense of self worth and happiness when he diagnosed him with PTSD from Vietnam, putting him on medication. Dr Magoon also counseled us as a couple off and on for nearly forty years. We believe he saved our marriage. He is, indeed, one of the greatest people we have ever known. He understood the human psych to a greater extent than anyone we knew...always cutting to the chase and pulling no punches. He did not coddle his patients, preferring instead to tell us exactly what he believed was going on...leading us carefully to our reality. We loved him.We could never have thanked him enough for all he did for us.

Dr. Magoon is the greatest man I ever knew.

As his patient for nearly 20 years, on and off, he became my rock, my cheerleader, and my friend.

It was an honor to know a man of such integrity, spirit, strength and kindness.

I delight in the photos of his joy with family and friends as we only knew each other in the confines of his office, my sanctuary.

He not only saved lives, he instilled in his patients a sense of dignity and self respect.

I will never forget the phone call he made to me to get on the fish oil. Nor will I forget his smile, his commitment to his profession, and his plaid tie.

I will honor him by using the tools he gave to stay happy, knowing the reason will come.

Heaven just got a whole lot better.

Love and prayers to his family.

Dr. Magoon was my doctor and during the hardest times of my life, he was like a safe place. He was a gentle giant, soft spoken, and seemed to be the only one who listened and had real compassion.
He came to the largest rescue of my, and my son's life. My son was seeing someone at another place and he came with me one time, because he was young, about 5 and had no school that day. It was a God send that he was there so Dr. Magoon could see what I was talking about when I was saying we had even more problems with him. He asked what medications they were giving him. I told him the mix he was on and he told me to immediately stop 2 of them, that it was doing him harm. Just tapering at the fastest pace he could, my son got better within a week. He's been my hero ever since. He always asked about him, for the last 17 years! My son would sometimes come and see him. The last time I came in with him was about 4 years ago. He grew up with Dr. Magoon!
I can't imagine what his wife and family are going through right now. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to them all, and to his many friends and associates, and for all of us, his patients. My son sends his condolences as well. He will truly be missed by many.
