Alison,
I am so sorry for your loss..

I have many fond memories of Betty starting with Slauson junior high school and walking to school with our neighborhood friends. Slumber parties and the TV Hit Parade started the weekends (if her dad wasn't watching wrestling). Her house was my only access to TV at the time. I enjoyed walking with her and her dog Mark, a beautiful collie -- sometimes "way out in the country" on Maple Road. We always kept in touch at least at Christmas even though I was far away for years. When I was able to come back she always welcomed a visit. I'm grateful to have been her friend and that I was able to have some soup with her just this July, thanks to her kind and caring stepson Joe. Coming home to Ann Arbor won't be quite the same without a visit with Betty.

Betty was one of the warmest, most loving people in my life. As a sister-in-law, I felt very privileged to have had her in my life. We remained in contact always, by phone, email and birthday cards. She was such a delightful person. I felt her to be a true sister to me. She was always there in such a human and loving way, no matter what. I always enjoyed our conversations, be they about our lives, politics or world events. Her sense of humor was wonderful and compassionate. I will always keep Betty in my heart. I will miss her earthly presence very much. My sympathy goes out to Alison, Joe, Joyce, Bill and all those who were a part of her family and loved her.

I have such fond memories of Betty from my time in Ann Arbor. Alison was and still is one of my dearest friends, and Betty was always so kind, warm, and welcoming to me when I visited. I was sort of adopted as a member of the family, and my first Easter there, they gave me an Easter basket with a chocolate rabbit! Even their sweet dog Ainsley would try to "corral" me to keep me from leaving the house! Even after Alison moved to New Jersey, Betty and Joe sent me a Christmas card every year. I am sorry for her loss, especially for Alison, Nicki, and Joe. I was privileged to know such a sweet, wonderful lady.
