Gene: We are in total shock of hearing the news of Karens passing. We always loved the times and travels we were able to share with you both.

Gene, my heart goes out to you on the unbelieveable loss of Karen. I so enjoyed working with her many years ago at Harris and catching up a bit on your lives together through our working on the 60 Mile Men calendar and your annual Christmas letter. Words just can't express how sorry I am.

I met Karen at the Pinetree Antique Mall in Brooklyn where we had booths across from each other. Seemed every time I was there I'd run into Karen, and we'd talk about common interests, antiques, collectibles, writing, cats, her amazing travel adventures... the most recent, her upcoming trip to Budapest. She was a bright spark, always good humored and caring. Her passing is unbelievable, so sudden and too soon. At the antique mall, everyone is numb with hock. My deepest sympathy to Gene.

Karen smiled more than anyone I know... even when we were sweltering under the hot sun during Art Fair. She was anxiously awaiting a chance to ride my horse this fall...we hope she is riding up in heaven on the great horse of her dreams... Gene our heart goes out to you on the loss of your best friend, your lover, your confidant, your wife forever in your heart.

Karen always had the right words, when I agonized about what to say. Feeling lost for words without her. She was a rare gem in so many ways, exemplified by her amazing generosity to her friends, and her enthusiasm for so much...including traveling, the love for Gene and all the pets over the years. There wasn't anything that she undertook, that she didn't complete first class. I was always in awe of all she accomplished, personally and professionally. Whenever I see a shooting star, I will be thinking of Karen, especially in the sky over Vineyard Lake at K/G cottage. What great times we all had there! Life is precious and she lived hers like so many of us should aspire. Terri Russler-Devall, Devall Design Ltd.
