I was looking for the old Rugby footballers -going way back when. My father coached the team in the late 60's through mid 70's (I believe). There was a core group that spent many hours in our basement (bar) drinking Strohs beer out of silver mugs that mom
and dad won in Manila racing their international 110. Dad played his trombone, mom cooked up a storm for all the hungry college boys and the kids quietly and sheepishly removed the cans to the trash on Sunday nights. Chuck was one of them. I remember him well as one of the core group of good guys who loved my parents. Tom Raboine, Cleland Child, Bruce Kingsbury are the ones that come to mind, but there were others too. I remember him as one of the boys who got dad's hovercraft going albeit dangerously and out of control on Maple Blvd (now Eisenhower). And so in my search to let those know my mother passed away on Jan 10th (dad, "Doc") preceded her in 2011, I was shocked to hear of Chuck's untimely death. I am sorry I did not know sooner. My heart goes out to your family. It is a loss that those of us who knew him and of him. My memories of those times are indelible: the games, the tournaments, the parties...the Blind Pig, Frasiers, Mr Floods....yup, those are good memories....
