Thinking of you
June 21, 2013
Joel, I miss you so much. My days are empty and my nights are long. I told you I would be alright and told you to go ahead and go so you didn't have to suffer anymore. I know I will be alright eventually. Do you hear me talk to you at night as I am sitting on the porch alone? Remember when we used to stay up all night talking on the phone but then watching movies at Linda's? The memories will last forever. I just wish I had saved some of your voice mails on my phone so I could hear your voice when ever I want to. I love you Joel, and soon we shall meet again in Heaven because our time on earth is just a blip compared to what it is like there. I hope Heaven is just like I explained it to be from all the studying I did on it. What I miss the most is our endless conversations about anything. But we could especially relate due to our illnesses. I'm working on mine just like I said I would. IV therapy starts soon love. I miss you!

Joel,

Remember when just you and I took that trip to Cedar Point in your old Thunderbird and you drove so fast we got there in what seemed like 30 minutes and it should have taken over an hour? "Don't tell mom" you said. We had so much fun riding roller coasters all day till we felt sick. Do you remember how we lost the car and I had to ask some guys drive me all around the parking lot before we finally found it?

Always having fun, that's what I like to remember most about you. I share this because even though I've lived away from MI for many years, I still want you to know I thought of you and will still think of you fondly, and often. I'm glad family and so many new and old friends were around you when I couldn't be. You touched so many lives while on this Earth.

Lots of love and miss you -
Your little KK

I met Joel when he was working at the gas station. Over the years we became friends. I'm also glad to have gotten to know his dad. I'll always remember him handing out dog treats to my dog - when we stopped for gas or in our daily walks. She always wanted to stop and find Joel. We had so many conversations about life and death and his health. I think the last one was in October, at the corner of Liberty and Main where he saw me walking my dog who he had not met before. He was always very kind, generous, and I felt honest about his struggles to stay well. I wish the best for his family and friends. He was a good man and I will always have fond memories of him.

Joel, I don't know what to say except that you are loved and missed very much. I will look after things the best I can and continue to be the person that made you so proud. I will always remember all the good times we had together, especially the ones with nice fast cars, even fords. You will be missed very much by your family and friends, especially me.
Love always. JJ

Cheryl,
I am so sorry for your loss. I used to babysit for Joel back in the early seventies and he was such a sweet boy, my favorite to babysit for. I know your heart is breaking. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Joel what can i say except i find it strange that your gone so soon you were and always will be a great friend and i hope that you have one of your famous bear hugs waiting for me when I see you again but until then i won't say goodbye instead i`ll say " I'll see you later" so don't feel distressed when you see us weep because in what seems like a short time to you we will all be together again I really want to thank you for being a great friend you will be sorely missed I will keep your spirit alive in my heart and memories until we meet again to Joel's family and other friends I'm sending thoughts and prayers your way during this sad time
