Jeff and Bonnie...I just heard about your father's passing. So sorry to hear the news and pray that you feel God's presence in this difficult time.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis both were truly examples of the "Greatest Generation." Role models to us all in how they conducted their lives. They were among the leaders that made Ann Arbor the great place that it was to grow up in for the next (my) generation.

Herb was an exemplar of a teacher, a public official, community leader and activist, and human being...truly, we will not soon see his like again...

Never did a man lead his family, friends and community more by courageous example than Herb Sr. So many happy memories growing up with Jeff. We were all lucky to know both Herb and Virginia, even though they made us do Jeff's chores when he didn't.

Jeff and Bonnie, Herb, and George:
My admiration, love, and respect for the Ellis family began as a little girl when I'd visit (great) Grandma Riley, Aunt Maggie, and Roberta. Cousin Herb and his siblings have found many ways to use their God-given talents to help others. Underneath it all, was a down-to-earth Okie sensibility and respect for others.

With deepest sympathy,
Ruth Sypert Ashford,
Past President of San Jose East/Evergreen Rotary Club
