After Angelo's death, "Momma Angelo" was often found at the restaurant cheerfully greeting and talking with old friends and customers. Pat was the matriarch of the family doing her best to impart the Greek culture and faith to younger generations. I just heard about the sale of Angelo's today. I will always remember the restaurant with great joy. I worked there as a waitress in 1977 and 1978 while going to school at the University of Michigan. I loved Angelo and Pat like family and they treated me like family. I remember the surprise Angelo gave me my first day of work when he said he didn't want the orders handed to him. He was so brilliant that we just told him our orders through the kitchen window and he could remember every single order we gave him, even when the restaurant was packed. My favorite part of the day was the mid-afternoon down time when Angelo, Pat and I often found some time to sit down together and talk. My other favorite time of the day was before we closed up. As the weekend approached, Angelo would always ask me if I was going to see "Toledo" that weekend. My boyfriend's name was Rick and he grew up in Toledo, but Angelo always called him Toledo. We had so many laughs and I will forever love Angelo and Pat for all the treasured memories I have of them.

To the entire Vangelatos family, I'm so sorry to hear that Pat has passed away. When I was a regular Angelo's customer, I always appreciated her pleasant, friendly manner. It sounds like she continued to live a good life after she retired from the restaurant, and I know she will be missed by your family. Needless to say, I'll think of her -- and Angelo -- whenever I'm in the restaurant.

I am so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. I went through the AA schools with her and graduated in 49 also. She was always a happy, smiling gal with lots of energy. I know she really loved her family and her church as we talked at reunions. She will be sadly missed. Pat Hentz

I was so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. Pat was a big part of why working at Angelo's was fun. She radiated joy and kindness, no matter how stressful and busy it got. And it did get busy!! Her smile says it all. Rest in peace, dear Pat. My heart goes out to Vickie and Steve and the rest of the family.

Angelo's Restaurant was a "home away from home" for my husband, Al. His morning cup of coffee at the counter was one of the highlights of his day. He knew Pat and Angelo, the kids, the waitstaff and many of the regulars!
Pat was always welcoming, had a kind word for everyone and made the restaurant a haven for the harried students and professors!
She was one of a kind and will be truly missed by the Ann Arbor community.

Pat always made Sunday morning breakfast at Angelo's even more special for our family. She greeted us as if we were her family. Her warmth, cheery voice and welcoming words made every Sunday seem extra special. May she rest in peace in the knowledge that she touched so many, and may the many good memories bring comfort to her family.

I have wonderful memories of Pat from the years waitressing at Angelo's in the late 80's to mid 90's. She ran the register, greeted everyone like they were family, and made the best baklava in town. I will always remember her resolve, strength of character, and how she always had our backs. Rest in Peace, dear lady.
