Shirley Drew Obituary

Drew, Shirley "Sherry" Chelsea, Michigan Shirley Mae "Sherry" (Hunter) Drew, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019. She was born February 5, 1936 in Akron, Ohio. Sherry (she preferred this name) was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed celebrating holidays and special meals with her family and friends. She had a way of making sure that when you spent time in her home it was relaxing, comfortable and filled with loving hospitality. She loved the Lord and volunteered in many ministries throughout the years from teaching Sunday School to working with missionaries. Sherry was a member of Immanuel Bible Church. She was a wonderful example of a Godly woman and left a spiritual legacy for her family to follow and continue. We will never be able to thank her enough for teaching us and leading us to follow the Lord. Her example will indeed have eternal impact. Preceded in death by her husband Richard Earl Drew, she is survived by her children Nancy (Jerry) Benjamin, Priscilla (Carl) Schwarze, and John (Jeannie) Drew, all of Chelsea, 7 grandchildren, Nathan (Elizabeth) Schwarze of Grosse Pointe, Matt (Danielle) Schwarze of Traverse City, Krystin (William) McDonald of La Mesa, CA, Erin (Adam) Connell of Canton, Joel Benjamin of Chelsea, Kerri Benjamin of Okemos, and Dakota Drew of Chelsea, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving a brother William (Lucy) Hunter of Akron, Ohio and sister Karen (Lou) Leo of Laguna Nigel, California. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 22, 6:00 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-6 pm. A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory can be made to Immanuel Bible Church, 145 E.Summit St., Chelsea, MI 48118.

Please accept my sincere condolences, may the love of family and friends comfort you through your grief and days ahead, let loving memories of Shirley warm your heart Isaiah 61:1,2 "God binds up the brokenhearted, and comforts all who mourn."

Sherry's love of Christ impacted her family and trickled down to me. Raising Priscilla to love the Lord reached into my life as Priscilla's modeling of what it means to be a Christ follower touches my heart always. Sherry has impacted the world with her love of Jesus. She is now smiling at Jesus and wrapped in His loving arms. Debra Grysen
