William J. Darwin Sr.

1937 - 2018

Darwin Sr., William J. of Waterloo, MI, formerly of Ann Arbor & Garden City Age 81, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in his home. He was born February 11, 1937 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of LeRoy F. and Helen (Glushyn) Darwin. Bill graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1955. He was a member of Waterloo Village United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and active in the building program & development of the Fellowship Hall. Bill was an active Realtor since 1986. Bill enjoyed gardening, croquet, morel hunting, and they hosted many large family gatherings. On August 25, 1956, he married JoAnne M. Ramsey at Westside Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Bill (Marsi) Darwin II of Waterloo, Andrew (Christina) Darwin of Ann Arbor; three daughters, Rebecca Darwin of Ann Arbor, Lizabeth Darwin of Ann Arbor, Melanie (Tim) Zurlinden of Pinckney; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Darwin; his brother, LeRoy (Sue) Darwin of Ann Arbor; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arnold Darwin, and two children, Brian Darwin 2009 and Amy Isadora Darwin 2010. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 9, 7:00 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Rev. Merlin Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 3-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JoAnne Darwin, c/o Cole Funeral Chapel.
