"But the soul of her, the glowing, gorgeous fervent soul of her, surely is flaming in eager joy upon some other dawn."

Mary White, by William Allen White

How sad this wonderful actress was taken from us too soon. She brought me so much pleasure watching all of her performances, especially the tough old grandmother forced to take in 3 kids, she lived in a shack and drove a boat, etc. She was wonderful, in all roles, always Mrs. Robinson, but Anne Sullivan, etc. Too many to name, but she will be missed. Mr. Brooks and son, my deepest sympathy. I will remember her in my prayers for her soul. Thank you for sharing her with the rest of us.

I was truly saddened to hear that Anne had died, she seemed like such a loving person and very vibrant. Last time I saw her on TV I believe was on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was really funny. I still have not seen Mrs. Robison, and now I think I will rent the movie. I do remember as a young child seeing the movie Turning Point with her and Shirley McClain. I have a great love for ballet so this one touched me personally. Mel you also make me laugh,Blazing Saddles,High Anxiety. Young Frankenstein,Keep making us laugh. I am so sorry for your loss, and believe your wife is looking down on you with a smile and a laugh to follow. May she rest in peace. And may you find peace in knowing she is in a good place.

I was first impressed seeing Anne Bancroft in a TV showing of "The Miracle Worker."

I next saw her in "Silent Movie," when it tickled me to see this classy actress camp it up and cross her eyes.

I was deeply moved by her portrayal of Mary Magdalene in "Jesus of Nazareth." Even in that star-studded cast, her portrayal of a jaded woman's deeply spiritual transformation shone brilliant.

My personal favorite film moment, though, is when she and Mel Brooks performed "Sweet Georgia Brown" at the start of "To Be or Not to Be" - in Polish!

I admire many people's acting work without feeling compelled to know more of them. She was on a very short list of celebs I thought it would be great to actually meet and talk with.

My deep sympathy to her husband, Mel, their son, and all their family and friends.

Dziêkujê, Anne. We'll miss you!
