As a teenage girl growing up in Maine I read all of Anne's books. With her as my role model, I graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Wildlife Biology. Her dedication to conservation and ecology will forever be ingrained in me. Thank you Anne, for shaping who I am.

I so enjoyed reading the first woodswoman book that I had to read the others. Such an impressive woman. Many thanks for allowing readers to live your adventures through the books. RIP

Wow. As a young woman in my twenties, I picked up a copy of Woodswoman in probably 1985. I don't know why she inspired me at the time, but there was something about this independent woman going into the woods and making a life for herself that drew me in. Ann, you were an inspiration to me; I still have the book I bought in a Buffalo bookstore. Your story enthralled me, intrigued me and inspired me to be an independent woman living life on my own terms. Thank you Anne.

I had never heard of Ann Labastille until I came across her book at a local book sale. I picked it up immediately knowing I would love it, being a lover of the woods and nature myself. I am sad to hear today of her passing. Rest in peace.

Anne was an inspiration to me. I built a log cabin 26 years ago and still have no electricity. We wrote back and forth for a few years. She was an amazing woman.

My condolences...I am so sad to hear of her passing. Anne's books were treasures to me in high school and my love of nature, the outdoors and specifically the Adirondacks was due to her words and experiences. Thank you for opening that door for me and for broadening the scope of my life tremendously. For all you have done to protect the great outdoors THANK YOU...and rest in peace. This photo of you says it all :o) With much admiration, Cathie

She is my hero. I treasured every word of Woodman that I read in 1979. I heard her speak at Unity College in the early 80's and could not believe the luck that she would come to Maine to speak. I have thought fondly of her since I read the book all those years ago. She died way too young. Tricia
