Funeral service for Joel Carter, 81, will be today at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. William P. "Buddy" Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Survivors include his sons, Randall Joel Carter (Christy) and Jobie Lynn Carter; godson, Jason Lee Griffith; his grandsons, Christopher Joel Carter; his granddaughter, Carly Jade Carter McClendon (Gavin); his sisters, Lorene Nowland (Calvin) and Joyce Howell (Sandy); his nieces, Alicia Nowland (Ray Beal) and Michelle Howell Harmon (Ronnie); nephew, Andy Howell (Susan) and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Clifford "Doc" and Maudie Carter. In lieu of flowers he family requests donations be made in his honor to First Baptist Church at McClellan.
