To the Family of
Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr.

I wish I had the right words to say at this time, but I know there are none. I grieve for the loss of your beloved son and I know that I cannot fathom the pain you must be feeling. Your son will not be forgotten and what he did to help protect our homeland and our freedoms. It was his life that made him a Hero. It was his noble path that made him an American Hero. It was his ultimate sacrifice that made him a Fallen Hero. May God carry him to Heaven on His precious wings and give him a palace to live in. I pray that our Heavenly Father above will grace you with His love, His comfort and His peace. Heaven's Gates now has a new handsome Marine standing guard. Amen.

To the Monahan family: I am sorry for your loss. Christopher was a good Marine and a good man. I had the fortune to have him in my platoon over the last year. When you teach a child to say the Pledge of Allegiance and to sing the Star-Spangled Banner in Kindergarten, you never think that someday that child may give his life for our country. Thank you, Chris, for your ultimate sacrifice to keep our country free. God bless you! To the Monahan family my deepest sympathy - Chris was a wonderful little boy and I'm sure he became a terrific young man, husband and daddy. My prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

I did not know Chris or his family. I was at the Veteran Cemetery yesterday, visiting an old friend when Chris arrived. Trying to find my friend, I got lost and was cut off by a long line of cars. From the numbers, I knew it had to be an important person. The cars kept coming. I imagined an older person who lived a long and fruitful life. Another car pulled alonside of me. He had somehow become separated from the procession. He told me it was a young Marine killed last week. Then came the tears and prayers. I am a stranger but my love, thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless Chris and his family. Rick Romatowski, US Navy Vietnam Era Veteran

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to CPL. Christopher M. Monahan our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Christopher. And to Christopher it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the supreme sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. Christopher you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Christopher, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Christopher's family and loved ones. Semper Fidelis !

Praying His Promises Bless Your Day
PEACE
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.

HOPE
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord... "plans to give you hope and a future."

LOVE
The Lord God is with you... He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love.

Scripture taken from Numbers 6:24,26; Jeremiah 29:11; Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

A Letter from God To
The Gold Star Family of
Cpl Christopher Monahan

Dear Child of Mine,

I am the God of all comfort. I will hold you in my arms of compassion and sing you my song of grace.

I will touch the wounds within you, and in my perfect season, I will lift you from this place of pain.

But I want you to know that as I am healing you, I am also creating within you a healing ministry of your own.

For to be healed by me is to be made a healer.

You see, the very comfort that I am working into your broken heart through the power of my words, and the love of my people is meant to be recycled.

Someday when your heart has grown strong again, I will send someone into your life who is as broken as you are today.

And the compassion I am pouring into you now will flow from

you to that hurting soul.

You will know how to comfort him because you will have been where he is.

You will resonate with his pain.

You will reach into the depth of your own healing and love him back to life for Me. What a precious vessel you will be to Me then.

A vessel once humbled and hurt---and then healed to be healer! This is My Plan for you.

Love Forever, God

We are so sorry your Blue Star has turned to Gold

May God be with you at this most difficult time granting you peace and comfort

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Christopher will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

To The Gold Star Family of

Cpl Christopher Monahan
A True American Hero
Who Chose To Be A Marine

I chose to be Marine,
because I wanted to save lives even if it meant giving mine up.
It's OK Mom to cry.
I can see you from here.
That folded flag you held so tight..
I touched it. I wiped your tears and ...wept with you.
The only regret I have is that I am not there to help my troops.
Tell everyone hello and that I am OK.
I will be watching them from up here in the CLOUDS.
Heaven is as beautiful as they said. So much love. Mom, that warmth you felt when the sun came in your window this morning…
that was me kissing your cheek. Love you.

There are heroes that take up arms and fight for freedom.
The brave, the ones that fear not death.
Then there are the silent heroes. The ones that are there to save lives.
The ones that care more about others and fear not death,
but instead fight death every day.
The knock upon my door this evening was of such a hero.
He died trying to save a comrade.
With bullets flying and grenades exploding,
he kept on trying to save a comrade till his life was taken.
Heaven has a brighter star now. He sits beside God and His angels.

To The Loved ones of
Cpl Christopher Monahan
A True American Hero

I'm Spending Christmas With Jesus Christ This Year!

I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars
reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular
Please wipe away a tear
For I'm spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
That people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
With the Christmas choir up here.

For I have no words to tell you
The joy their voices bring
For it is beyond description
To hear an angel sing.

I know how much you miss me
For I feel your breaking heart...
But through our memories so dear
We're never far apart.

I can't tell you of the Splendor
Or the peace here in this place.
Can you just imagine Christmas
With our Savior face to face?

I'll ask him to light your spirit
As I tell him of your love.
So then pray for one another
As you lift your eyes above.

So please let your hearts be joyful
And let your spirit sing.
For I'm spending Christmas in Heaven
And I'm walking with the King.

May God Bless you as you honor the memory of your loved One Christopher
We are so sorry your Blue Star has turned to Gold

Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a prayer gift which will be mailed to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses of those who would like to receive one and which gift they would like to receive. We will send our gift as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved on who died while serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne
