Evelyn C. "Evie" Dolan, 85, of Laurence Harbor passed from this life on Friday March 29, 2013. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Laurence Harbor.
Before retiring in 1987, she was employed by the Old Bridge Rent Stabilization board. She was a member of St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Laurence Harbor and the Altar-Rosary Society. She was a life member of the Laurence Harbor Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the New Jersey State Fireman's Assn., serving as president from 1997 to 1999 and the Middlesex County Fire Auxiliary.
Daughter of the late Harry and Anna Cohan, she was also predeceased by her sister, Shirley Cohan. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James E. Dolan, Jr.; her sons and daughters-in-law, James E., III and Laurie Dolan of Old Bridge and Daniel M. and Annie Dolan of Chalfont, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Kathleen Bivens of South Amboy; her brother, Harry Cohan of East Brunswick; her sisters, Annemarie Hill of Old Bridge, Leona Diebold of Rahway, Eleanor Munck and Julia Neumann, both of South Amboy and Dolores Deiner of New Brunswick; she also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 3, 2013 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
