The joy you got from a simple cigarette
I saw it
The way you loved even Daisy
I saw it
Your triumph splitting an all-night runga
I saw it
Why couldn't I see you? Why didn't you make it till I could make it?

Platitudes and declarations are easy when none are left to hear
But I would've hugged you.
I would've let you see
My tear.

I feel you around and I see your spirit wearing wings
The songs you used to sing are ringing in my ears
Calling all you angels
I won't give up, if you don't give up.
Sing to me again.

Why do the clouds always lift after the rain has ruined everything?
Where was my understanding when you still stood?
Why couldn't I see your rainbow
Until you couldn't sing?

Play me that song again
I want to see your knee moving as you feel the music move
You had a way
of shaking your shoulders forward and grabbing the neck anew
Grabbing fresh so you wouldn't lose what you knew.
I hope they line up to play for you the way you saw so clear
Trumpets and trombones blasting
a painting from your song
Too fantastic for here.
